I am an artist that works with different media to make collage/mixed media and still-life painting. My biggest love is making unique artwork and close behind is teaching people interested in art to try my way of working (uncomplicated) and then seeing the joy and confidence that this brings them.
– The mixed media work can often merge several different processes including painting, drawing, digital imaging and collage. This type of work is mostly spontaneous or the result of inspiration from a found image or mark – it then becomes an assemblage of hybrid imagery.
This year I have been exploring beautiful shapes in objects for still-life paintings and I have chosen for many reasons to use a limited colour palette. I am inspired by Italian Painter Giorgio Morandi.
– I continue to teach one-on-one workshops from my studio in collage/mixed media and painting in acrylics. I also teach life drawing classes at Cambridge Studio Gallery in Collingwood on Wednesday evenings (www.cambridgestudiogallery.com.au).
– I adore my Kelpie ‘Ninna’ and I love Melbourne so you will see images of these two loves from time to time.
If you would like any further information about the work I make or about future classes in art I would be happy to talk to you.
I live in Melbourne, Australia and can be contacted via my Email: email@example.com and find me on instagram annewarrenart.
Thank you for the like over at my place. I am so glad I have found a mixed media artist in our beautiful Melbourne town. Are there others? Do you know if there is a group of like minded that get together? Love your work and look forward to visiting often…cheers Rosie
Thanks Rosie for liking my work also. I don’t know of other mixed media artists or groups. I call myself a mixed media artist because I often introduce a couple of different media into one image. I find using different media and layering is the best way for me to make my work. Best Wishes, Anne
thanks for looking at my site. far from finished but i’m doing it myself from scratch and learning as i go – often the hard way. anyway – the really good thing for me is that i went to look at your site and particularly your gallery just blew my socks off. so many beautiful images.
are you exhibiting anywhere soon?
Hello Laurene, Nice to meet you. Thats lovely to hear that you liked my work also. I am currently in an Intern Womens Day exhibition at the Hellenic Museum in Melbourne. Great venue but you should call to make sure it is open. I have three pieces there. I am part of Alphington Open Studios around November so I would love it if you came to that and otherwise probably like yourself a bit here and a bit there.
I love your collage images, of course they remind me of my own in a way. Check out my portrait series on my web site http://www.fgdavis.co.uk I think we work in a similar way in other mixed media pieces too. Let me know what you think and keep up the brilliant work. G
Thankyou George, Yes I like your work and I can see some similarities as well. I had a good look at your Open Studio info as we also have one here in my suburb. Bit different to yours as we only have about 13 artists (kind of good for us though). I generally post more on Instagram if you want to have a look annewarrenart.
Anne, your drawings are exquisite.
Thanks Julie. I’m hoping to sit down with a cup of tea and look over your site as well.
Thanks for the like on my blog. Your work is very inspiring!
Enjoying your website. Thanks for the warm welcome and like on my new site. I’m just getting started. Lots to learn! Thank you for sharing your art and talent! jv
Anne, thank you for stopping by my Art and Tulips site. I’m inspired by your story and your work. I send greetings across the pond from San Diego! Molly
Thank you for liking my post ‘Ingrained’. Great to see you ‘living the dream’. I admire the courage you show in teaching your way to open others to their own creative possibilities. I am also impressed by your generosity in encouraging other artists to see public value in their work.
Thanks for your message Stevi I agree that although I had not thought of the words Living the Dream I think I really am. I see you also like different materials and assemblage just as I do. It is endless fun.
thanks for visiting my blog. The Just Giving Thing is a whole new move for me but I am humbled by the response! I am very captivated by the way by your collage work….there is such a mix of emotion, creativity, psychology and (possibly?) irony in it – a technique I have long admired!
Thanks for your comments. It is intuitive work where I respond to what I encounter. I select books that appeal to me for various reasons, but with no firm plans to make a particular image and then just let it happen. It is very liberating.
Your painting is beautiful, I love that it appears to be pushed back like a memory, undefined.
