Challenged to combine a dinosaur with an earlier collage.
I was challenged by Reader Leonie Andrews to combine one of my last ephemeral collages with a dinosaur. Hope you like it. Light rather than dark version.

Exhibition of Collage at Tuggeranong Arts in Canberra on now.
I have just returned from a wonderful trip to Canberra for the Opening of my Solo Exhibition – Mergence. I loved Canberra including the National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Floriade, Arboretum, Glass Making Factory/Warehouse, Market, quirky Kendell Lane, Little Istanbul and numerous restaurants for delicious food.
The workshop I conducted was at the Arts Centre which backed on to the lake, so we dragged our chairs outside and had lunch with a view. Beautiful time. Great people. x
I hope more people will come to see the artwork. It is 3D collage assemblage.
Mergence was my response to an umbrella title Entropy. Everything fragments, everything disintergrates. My selected subjects fragment and merge, histories merge, people merge, animals merge. I would like to think that they successfully merge and are not too surreal to imagine. A fisherperson becomes part fish part person. Someone that loves their house becomes part person part house. Torn paper and found image mixed media collage.
The fish and bird were made quite a long time a using torn paper with gouache and pencil. The work in progress is the tomb which still has a long way to go but I think has potential. Hope you think so too. Am working on quite a few tombs and making them into unique new environments.
Still teaching workshops in collage and still-life painting – message me if you are interested. I teach from my studio in Alphington, Victoria.
Melbourne East Arts Festival art exhibition August 18-20th.
I was so pleased to be invited to exhibit works at the Melbourne East Arts Festival on Friday 18th August to Sunday 20th August. Inside this beautiful little church, alongside the magnificent stained glass windows I will be exhibiting a solo still-life exhibition of paintings made especially for this occasion. In another room I will be exhibiting a selection of collage work with the highly regarded and beautiful sculpture of Michael Meszaros.
By the way I have heard that the wine and food flows at this event.
Hope you can come along and join us at the Friday evening opening at 8.30pm (note there is a $10 fee as it is a fundraiser for the church) and please also keep in mind the other calendar of events available during this weekend.
Michael and I will be there most of the weekend to talk to you. Please contact me for any further information or contact the email addresses on the brochure.
If you are blogging friend of follower I would love for you to pop in and say hi to me. If you wish to see more of the work I am exhibiting you can email me.
The more the merrier.

Just added a little still life I made a year ago (sold).
Oh and it’s going to be 35 degrees Celsius on Christmas day and yes we will still be having hot lunches and dinners anyway because of tradition that has become part of our Australian culture. But don’t worry about us as I’m sure there will also be ice and cold drinks and icecream and beer and wine etc. etc. …
Art Workshop spaces for Thursday
I have a couple of openings for art workshops Thursday 2nd June and Thursday 9th of June for anyone that is interested. .
Can you tell I get a kick out of collage?
I like to challenge myself by selecting just one or two books from my collage bookcase to create collage images. The abstract was just from one page alone – can you see the bedhead, blanket, pillow, childs shoe strap, and a couple of other things? I often do not stick these things down, they are ephemeral and may turn up in a different image in the future – see the horse repeated. Can’t do that if you commit with glue however I was given a visual diary so I feel I need to fill it and I have kept a few of the above in it.
Workshops are still available – email me if you need details.
