Loving digital art again.

I would like to say that I jumped the gun in my last post about a new on line store so I closed it.  I have far too many sites to add another.  I will combine it with Instagram to make it easier.  Just ask me if you see anything you would like or would like more information about.  Instagram annewarrenart or website https://annewarrenart.com

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter and or holiday break.  In Australia we have a few public holidays off on either side of the weekend so most people take a break to go away somewhere nice.  Maybe catch the last of the warm temperature.  We did not go away anywhere but stayed to see the Easter Egg Hunt by Grandson Mason, stayed for the bathroom renovation (bit of chaos without a second bathroom), stayed so that my Chinese student (international student) could transition from here to her new homestay about 10 kilometres away.

Also stayed to support my Son Darcy who is in the middle of a start up company curating beautiful Australia, sustainable products into gift boxes under the name Gertrude and Smith.  Please look him up and follow his journey as he prepares for a launch date.

Below is an image from the archives.  I am working in digital right now but still developing so can’t show you.  I will call the work visible invisible which is something that can happen with age, ethnicity, gender etc.smith street detail 1

Favourite colour is all kinds of yellow.

This is a small painting of around 25 x 25cm using acrylic on board.  This is one of a series of four still-life works.  They are all framed in blondewood box frames.  I will post some of the others later.  Loved making them and using super vibrant colours.  I have used a limited palette as I always do however I will always introduce alizarin crimson for apples.  So only four colours plus white.  I think you can call that pretty limited.

Making an abstract assemblage from old work.

I painted a few small abstract artworks but kept remembering pieces of art sitting in folios.  I started using resources that I have looked at and passed over so many times and finally they have been the perfect resources for a series of four artworks.  Some works are 3D, some have ink, acrylic and or gouache paint.  See more at my website http://www.annewarrenart.com or instagram annewarrenart.abss

Best ever store display at Myer Melbourne.

It’s an old picture I took a number of years ago and as I just came across it I thought I would share with you.  This wonderful, crazy, display, was in the Bed Linen section of Myer Melbourne.  It looks like someone was finally given freedom to do as they wished instead of standard, boring planogram displays.   Should be more of these.   mattress

Still life paintings change of mind pictures.

So many changes.  Pears gone, Lily gone, ribbon gone, teapot gone.  Hours and hours of work.  It’s a good feeling to accept that something is not quite right.  I removed the problem bits and looked at a different set up with fresh eyes.  Ahh happy now.

Making new art and being inspired by fashion show.

I was invited by fashion designer Linda Britten to attend a wonderful event at Forty five downstairs gallery in Melbourne.

A 8 year old girl sees her mother in a yellow gown…

A 52 year old woman sees herself in a mirror and her search for magic begins.

Memories are the fabric of a family is a full sensory experience containing original couture, original photography and original stories including dance, music and classical voice that maps the discovery of the binding magic of a family and memories.

The exhibition was inspirational.

I have been working on abstract painted backgrounds on paper with a more refined pencil drawing of a botanical on top.  The two below are just small starters that have led to some larger pieces on fabriano paper.  So far so good.

Alphington Open Studios this weekend

I would like you to know that the Alphington Open Studio weekend will be on this weekend Saturday 26th – Sunday 27th November 11am – 6pm.

I have been enriched by the AOS as I have met so many interesting people that has led to so many different experiences for me and for them also I hope.  I have been invited to do workshops for people of all ages, commissions, group exhibitions with people I would never have met before, I made some beautiful friends (you know who you are) and I am constantly inspired by my lucky encounters with all of you.
I am posting the AOS leaflet, also see Facebooks  Alphington Open Studios and website Alphington Studios for more pics of other artists works etc.
Here are some pics of my recent work which include still life painting in acrylic, collage/mixed media works that are surreal and yet happy and a new venture I have taken into wood carving.  I’m pretty proud of my efforts in carving from a block of wood things such as spoons and little animals.  I have used huon pine, golden poplar, and some bits of trees with no name.  For those of you that liked and bought my greeting cards I will once again have available digitally printed cards with this current selection of artwork on them.
Hope the weather is fine but as you know most of us are inside or are least well prepared for rain hail or shine.
Bye for now, hope to see you this weekend and bring your friends and or family for an enjoyable stroll or drive through Alphington, you need to see the gorgeous gardens but more importantly the wonderful artwork that we have worked on over the last twelve months that will be available for sale.
