International Women’s Day art.
In my heart I didn’t miss it, with my work sadly I didn’t exhibit specifically for 2019 International Women’s Day however I have recently had some strong ideas regarding new work to do with women. In the new work I would like to show the different ages, careers, ethnicities and histories. Yet to formulate exactly how that will appear on paper but am thinking about it alot and have taken up life drawing again.
I hope in the future work I make to show women with quirks that are unexpected hybrids of what you might expect. I hope in the future that I too will be called a quirky unexpected hybrid, maybe I am one now.
Just came back from beautiful Byron Bay in New South Wales, Australia. Please look it up if you are from overseas. It’s so beautiful and loved by hippies of all ages. Yesterday they had a nude bike ride through the main street. The night before I saw whole families dressed and painted like Frida Kahlo (men too). Anything goes in Byron.
Torn paper and found image mixed media collage.
The fish and bird were made quite a long time a using torn paper with gouache and pencil. The work in progress is the tomb which still has a long way to go but I think has potential. Hope you think so too. Am working on quite a few tombs and making them into unique new environments.
Still teaching workshops in collage and still-life painting – message me if you are interested. I teach from my studio in Alphington, Victoria.

Happy Easter from Australia.
The crawling rabbit that looks like a spring lamb has just passed by the Greek Easter Eggs to who knows where his gaze is taking him. The birthday girl is my gorgeous niece. I make her a digital piece with her image in it for each birthday. This one is not as surreal as usual but she looks aptly rugged up for the Autumn weather.
Having some cake with her tonight.
Digital Fantasy and Mixed Media happenings.
I am continuing the pencil drawings over the abstract painted backgrounds and here are two new ones. If you are observant you will see that I drew variations of the same plant which is something I don’t usually do.
I was Stupid, Stupid, Stupid when I did the blueish one on the left because I prepared the background about two weeks ago and drew the image only two nights ago and the next day started searching for the one I had started with, the one that everyone on social media was liking alot. Couldn’t find it for ages and then turned over the picture below and realised that I had painted and drawn on the back of it. Stupid.
Mason my grandson has been placed inside one of my surreal collages ‘ Friends with Dogs’. Number 8 of 12 I am making for him.
By the way I am still working on the new yellowish one and it’s getting better.
Pencil drawing on abstract background.
These works may still be in progress. Oil pencil drawings on abstract painted Fabriano paper.
