My digital artwork has been used by new on-line business Gertrude and Smith.

I am so happy to have a Giclee Print image on new on-line luxury gift parcel business Gertrude + Smith.

Being selected was not a given, even though it is my Son’s new business. He is working hard to launch around June this year.    It’s a hard life as he has me sampling chocopostcard frontlates, cocktails, candles etc. Such a hard life. Please look him up, subscribe to his website and follow him on his instagram as listed below. He will be doing competitions and offering his beautiful gift parcels to a follower soon. Everything is Premium, I have never heard that word used so much in my life. Premium.

The artwork he has printed on a card is called ‘I’m in Smith Street’.

Loving digital art again.

I would like to say that I jumped the gun in my last post about a new on line store so I closed it.  I have far too many sites to add another.  I will combine it with Instagram to make it easier.  Just ask me if you see anything you would like or would like more information about.  Instagram annewarrenart or website https://annewarrenart.com

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter and or holiday break.  In Australia we have a few public holidays off on either side of the weekend so most people take a break to go away somewhere nice.  Maybe catch the last of the warm temperature.  We did not go away anywhere but stayed to see the Easter Egg Hunt by Grandson Mason, stayed for the bathroom renovation (bit of chaos without a second bathroom), stayed so that my Chinese student (international student) could transition from here to her new homestay about 10 kilometres away.

Also stayed to support my Son Darcy who is in the middle of a start up company curating beautiful Australia, sustainable products into gift boxes under the name Gertrude and Smith.  Please look him up and follow his journey as he prepares for a launch date.

Below is an image from the archives.  I am working in digital right now but still developing so can’t show you.  I will call the work visible invisible which is something that can happen with age, ethnicity, gender etc.smith street detail 1

A pencil drawing and a charcoal drawing.

life 14 janlife 19 latest nude Jan is a painter of still-life and abstract acrylic paintings.  I enjoyed drawing this image.  I mistakenly picked up a blue pencil instead of a black one and just kept going.  Sorry it is such a terrible quality photo.  I do think I captured her and her lively and warm personality.

The charcoal nude drawing was made a couple of weeks ago.  The model was eight and a half months pregnant.  She was an amazing woman that was so full of energy.  Sorry I didn’t get her name.

Photography and drawing.

I attended a free local photography workshop at Hatch in Ivanhoe by Photographer Steve Scalone.  We started with an introduction by everyone in the class which was a little embarrassing for me as all the other attendees were photography students and photography club members.  When Steve got to me I said ‘I just want to take good Instagram photos’.  Red Face.

Steve’s work is beautiful, the workshop was definitely over my head.  That’s one of my photos up above.

The deer is an oil pencil drawing on paper from 2013.  Once again my photography of this image was pretty ordinary.  I’ll keep working on it.

International Women’s Day art.

In my heart I didn’t miss it, with my work sadly I didn’t exhibit specifically for 2019 International Women’s Day however I have recently had some strong ideas regarding new work to do with women. In the new work I would like to show the different ages, careers, ethnicities and histories. Yet to formulate exactly how that will appear on paper but am thinking about it alot and have taken up life drawing again.

I hope in the future work I make to show women with quirks that are unexpected hybrids of what you might expect. I hope in the future that I too will be called a quirky unexpected hybrid, maybe I am one now.

Just came back from beautiful Byron Bay in New South Wales, Australia. Please look it up if you are from overseas. It’s so beautiful and loved by hippies of all ages. Yesterday they had a nude bike ride through the main street. The night before I saw whole families dressed and painted like Frida Kahlo (men too). Anything goes in Byron.

Art Workshop available in Alphington Victoria.

I have a workshop available this Wednesday afternoon with only two other people as I try to cap it to only three. You can paint or make mixed media collage in a very relaxed no pressure environment.

Let me know if interested. Date is 20th Feb 2-5pm.

Experience or beginner are both ok.

Let me know if you are interested and we can discuss what materials you have or do not have. If it’s a one off class I’m sure I can supply for you.col2

Collage work, challenge me.

Collage workshop in my backyard.

We had a very hot day but it was a fun day.  I erected a marquee so we had shade for our group that were cutting images from books, inking paper and squeegieing paint onto paper in preparation for their assemblages.  We used gorgeous Fabriano and Arches 300gsm paper.

Maxine O’Brien made the two images shown here.

Collage is such a fun and friendly medium.

We have had a very hot hot hot Summer so we are hoping for a little relief from the heat soon.  By the way two days ago we had 43 degrees Celcius and overnight did not dip lower than 30 degrees Celcius.  Bit hot, just a bit.

Surreal and figurative collage assemblage.

A trip into the city, that’s Melbourne.

I don’t get into town as often as I should so it was wonderful to see lots of new shops and businesses opening up.  On line shopping has it’s place but seeing new things that you might not even think of looking up on line is a great way to go.

I only went to Melbourne Central Shopping Centre, the Emporium and David Jones food hall.  David Jones food hall sounds really fancy but its not.  They have great food there which is eaten at communal tables.  I was on my own and met a great couple that were visiting from Brisbane.  I gave them some tips on what to see and they gave me their enthusiastic and friendly company while I was taking a break with a coffee and an apple and walnut cake big enough for three people.

I have not done very much wood carving recently and I am just a novice but I have posted a picture of a sweet little girl – more painting and less carving.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year for 2019.

PS I am missing the snow that WordPress magically makes fall over my posts in December.
