Fabulous Collage and Mixed Media Workshop with Bethany produced the two artworks below.
Bethany arrived for her workshop with no preconceived ideas other than perhaps using the two little children that she digitally printed and cutout ‘William and Olivia’ from her own photographs. When playing with chance you need to give yourself lots of materials to select from. All the backgrounds and cutout images will not be used even if you love them sooo much – unless they work well alongside another image, an image cannot stand alone, it must relate to another image and so on to create your assemblage. You can always save the unused ones and file them away for another time if they don’t work this time.
Two beautiful works, great work Bethany.
Materials: Ink, brushes, found images, photography, digital, Arches Watercolour Paper
This is my studio space it is where I make and create art and also where I conduct mixed media workshops.
It’s not glamorous, not really big but big enough for my type of work, not very tidy but I think it is an inspirational place to make art. I am sitting next to this lovely window now and I can see and hear as people walk past. I love it.
I have used cupboard doors to display my work and books are on or under everything (I kind of hid the messiest parts). Some of the work on the walls is mine and other works are part of my collection of other peoples art.
On Tuesday I held a beginners workshop here and the work below is the whimsical and quirky work of the artist ‘R’. Such a restful serene image. Well done.
Photoshop cubed my niece.
This is really my first play with 3d as I have not had CS6 for long. So of course I have gone overboard and just have to get this fun stuff out of my system.
I know I know they are pretty boring for all you experts out there but I think they are hilarous. I even had her on a wine bottle.
My dog dragged her dirty body against a drawing that I spent more than 12 hours on.
I was thinking that the composition was not working so well with this drawing so the dog just made me look at some options. I have inked the dirty background – dont love it – still looking to either paint it out, cut it up etc..
As you can see my studio is a mess – I did some surface preparation for an abstract painting.
I added a new page – Art Workshops and I made a small painting today and am very happy with the result.
I have also created a new page for Workshops in Art – hope it is of interest as it is something I love to do.
Also added a few new images to my Gallery.
I saw a lovely movie last night called Seraphine.
I’m wondering if everyone except me has seen the movie Seraphine.
It was a gorgeous movie with the lead of servant/artist played so sensitively and so warmly by Yolande Moreau.
I have now been introduced to the art of Seraphine as well as acting of Moreau – such a treat on a night of not much on TV tonight. In Australia this is a foreign film with English subtitles.
