A pencil drawing and a charcoal drawing.
Jan is a painter of still-life and abstract acrylic paintings. I enjoyed drawing this image. I mistakenly picked up a blue pencil instead of a black one and just kept going. Sorry it is such a terrible quality photo. I do think I captured her and her lively and warm personality.
The charcoal nude drawing was made a couple of weeks ago. The model was eight and a half months pregnant. She was an amazing woman that was so full of energy. Sorry I didn’t get her name.
Art Workshop available in Alphington Victoria.
I have a workshop available this Wednesday afternoon with only two other people as I try to cap it to only three. You can paint or make mixed media collage in a very relaxed no pressure environment.
Let me know if interested. Date is 20th Feb 2-5pm.
Experience or beginner are both ok.
Let me know if you are interested and we can discuss what materials you have or do not have. If it’s a one off class I’m sure I can supply for you.
Digital images from Smith Street shops.
I took these photos and then photoshopped them into these fun images. Mai was shopping for fruit so she has the whole shop and more on her shoulders now. Doug was at the pub and got a little clumsy. Just a little bit of fun playing with scale and of course photoshop and some drawing. They are around A5 size ink jet prints limited edition (only 5). I have a few more Smith Street shopps being carted around by people.
Happy International Women’s Day
Happy International Women’s Day.
I think about things sometimes and wonder how it is that some people think women and men are not equal.
I am still working on a drawing/painting of Ninna for a commission. She is so beautiful to me that it makes me think I will not be able to capture her loving spirit.
Also am continuing with collages in several different forms. If you look for Annewarren on instagram you will see lots of my ‘leggy-florals’ or florals with legs.
I am currently thinking of loosely painting Ninna (dog) and then drawing some details such as her head and paws over the top. Still thinking. Cleaning up studio. Contemplating. It takes ages. Oh and coffee.
Congratulations to Rob McHaffie for being selected for the Basil Sellers Art prize – hope he wins as it is not often that collage is the winner. Great artwork depicting Serina Williams. Good Luck.
I enjoyed playing with watercolour paints and water on paper – here are the results. This will be layer one as it is unfinished art.
These may appear to be a bit lumpy but I think I can use them as a basis for something interesting.
The one that looks like a pizza better work out because it is actually in my visual diary. I hate it when I dislike something in my visual diary because it means I have to look at it alot. (Not really, I tear them out.)
Give me some time to think about what I can do with these. Circles?
International Women’s Day Celebrations at Hellenic Museum in Melbourne today.
2014 Seven artists were selected to exhibit artwork for the exhibition ‘Transformation’. The event was thoughtfully curated by women from the group ‘Food for Thought’a Greek Australian Women’s Network. I was honoured to be part of this exhibition.
Here a few photos from the event which was very much a garden party attended by the Ambassador for Greece Mr Haralampos Dafaranos and his wife Eyvah T. Dafaranos who launched the exhibition,.
Several other exhibits are open at this wonderful venue included George Raftopoulos’ amazing collage/mixed media works on the first floor. Call the Museum for opening hours as I believe the exhibition will be continuing until April. Museum Phone 8615 9016
Yeah that’s me on crutches two and a half weeks after the knee replacement surgery. When I have a little more energy I’ll post some pics of the artwork by the other exhibitors.
I have been selected to exhibit artwork in a group show for International Women’s Day 2014.
The venue is a magnificent historic building that was once the Royal Mint Building.
There will be several events happening on the day of opening (9th March) so it would be a wonderful time to see some of you there.
I believe the event will be on show until 24th March if you cant be at the opening. There is an RSVP mostly for refreshments and please know that you are all welcome.
It may be my first outing on crutches – if we havent met yet well the crutches (knee replacement) will be a real givaway.
I’m pretty excited about this and as I learn more I will add to this post for your information.
